About the Class
What is the R.A.D. System?
The R.A.D. system is one of the most widely recognized and respected self-defense programs in North America, endorsed by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators. Developed in 1989, R.A.D. has been implemented by police departments and college campuses across the United States and Canada. The system focuses on teaching women realistic self-defense techniques that are easy to learn and effective in practice. By focusing on defensive concepts and proven tactics, R.A.D. provides women with the tools necessary to protect themselves from various types of assault.
Why Choose R.A.D. at Roar Taekwondo?
Our R.A.D. course is more than just a self-defense class—it’s a life-saving education. The course operates on the understanding that a spontaneous violent attack will naturally elicit a desire to resist. We educate women about the fight or flight response, and we demonstrate that enhancing their ability to physically defend themselves is not only prudent but essential for effective resistance.
This course is particularly vital for young women preparing to attend college, where statistics show that 1 in 4 women report experiencing sexual assault during their time on campus. Our program is designed to prepare women for these unfortunate realities by providing them with the skills and confidence to protect themselves.
